When you are ready to take your
animal to the taxidermist, there are several important things that you
need to bring along.
All deer, bobcats, otters, and
waterfowl must have proper tags, permits, and/or licenses before they
can be checked in. Bobcats and Otters need to have a CITES tag attached.
A deposit (usually 50% of the
total price of the mount) must be made before any work can be done on
your animal. Arrangements can also be made for you to make payments on
your mount, or you can choose to pay the remaining balance when the
mount is finished and ready to be picked up.
The most important thing to bring
with you is an idea. Think about how you want your animal mounted.
Choosing a pose, expression, habitat, and wood base is a thoughtful
process and we urge you to take your time and look at photos of your
animal, alive and in the wild to give you some ideas. A quick image
search online will show you hundreds of pictures of live animals.
Another thing to consider is where you are going to place the mount in
your home. We need to know if there are any size limits, as well as how
high you plan to hang the mount if it is going to be placed on the wall.
We cannot see your idea in your mind, so it is also very helpful if you
bring a printed photo or sketch of the pose that you've chosen. Doing
this will help us to give you a piece of wildlife art that you can enjoy
and admire for years to come!
